Chapters 1 - 3

All wisdom comes from God.
Love for God is the source of wisdom.

If you desire wisdom, keep the Lord's commandments,
in private as well as in public.

Keep the commandment to honor your parents.
Respect for your father will atone for your sins.
Honor for your mother will gain you blessings.

Support your father in his old age.
Even if his mind should fail, show him kindness.
Do not despise him in your health and strength.

Be gentle in the way you live your life.
The greater you are, the more humbly you should behave.

所有智慧源自 
的愛就是智慧的泉

如你渴望智慧,
私下及公開遵守
的誡命。

遵行孝敬父母的誡命。 
尊敬父親會為你
補贖罪過。 
孝敬母親的人會得到祝福。

父親年邁,應扶助。 
即使他智力衰
亦要關愛他。 
不要因你身強體壯就藐視他。

要耐心待他,猶如對待自己。
你越是偉大,就越要謙遜。

親愛的,請幫助我時常尊敬和孝敬父母


Chapters 4, 5

Water puts out a fire. Almsgiving makes up for sins.
Do not refuse to help a poor person.

Some people are all talk and no action.
Some people are lions at home but sheep in society.

Do not give your heart to money.
Do not let  passion rule your life.

Be quick to listen, but slow to speak.
Keep your temper under control.

水能撲火。 施捨能補償罪債。
不拒絕幫助窮困的人。

有些人一切都是空談並不行動。
有些人在家中是獅但在人群中卻是綿

不貪戀錢財。 
不讓激情支配你的生活。

敏於聆聽,慎於言。 
管束你的脾氣。

Chapters 6, 7

Let your acquaintances be many,
but your advisers one in a thousand.

A faithful friend is a sure shelter.
People who love and honor the Lord,
will find a faithful friend.

From your youngest days, seek wisdom.
If you love listening, you will find wisdom.

Stretch out your hand to help poor people.
Console people who are sad. Visit the sick.

In everything you do, remember the purpose of life
and you will avoid evil.

讓你廣交朋友
但你的參謀千裡挑一。

忠實的朋友是可靠的庇護。
那些愛和光榮
的人們
會找到忠實的朋

從小尋求智慧。 
你若愛聽
你會找到智慧

向窮人施惠。 
慰問悲傷的人。 探望病人。

在你所做的一切,記著人生的目的
你就會遠離罪惡。

Chapters 8, 9

Do not look down on an old person.
Old age is our common destiny.

Do not discuss your affairs with everyone you meet.
Be careful when you ask advice.

Do not look lustfully at a woman.
Do not stare at the beauty which belongs to someone else.

年老是我們的共同命運。

不要跟遇見你的每個人討論你個人的事。
徵求忠告時要謹慎。

不要淫穢地看著一個女人。
不要凝視別人貌美的妻子。

Lord, please help me control my tongue and my eyes

Chapters 10, 11

As the magistrate is, so will his officials be.
As the governor is, so will be the inhabitants of his city.

What has dust and ashes to pride itself on?
A king today is a corpse tomorrow.

Do not praise a person for good looks,
nor dislike anyone for appearance.

Small among winged creatures is the bee,
but nothing is sweeter than her honey.

長官怎樣,他的官員也怎樣。
市長如何,市民也如何。

塵埃灰土該以什麼為榮?
今天為王,明日是一具屍骸。

不要因人的美貌便讚美,
也不為外貎而厭惡任何人。

蜜蜂在飛蟲中雖是細小,
卻沒有東西比她的蜂蜜更甘甜。

Lord, please give our world good leaders

Chapters 12 - 14

No good will come to a person who persists in evil.
No good will come to a person who refuses to help the poor.

In prosperity you cannot always be sure who is a true friend,
but in adversity you can be sure who is not a friend.

Greed causes a personality to wither.
The pursuit of wisdom causes a personality to blossom.

12 – 14

堅決主張邪惡所為的人不會有好下場。
不肯施捨的人不會有好下場。

順境時,你常不確定誰是一位真正的朋友;
但逆境時,你可肯定誰不是朋友。

貪婪令人格委 
追求智慧使人格更健

Lord, please give me the wisdom to be kind and to avoid greed

,請給我智慧行善和戒避貪婪


Chapters 15 -19

Wisdom makes us happy. Foolishness makes us sad.
Humility is the pathway to wisdom.

We are free to choose good or evil, wisdom or foolishness.
To live a good life is something everyone can try to do.

If we have done something wrong, we must ask pardon of the Lord.
We must turn our back on wrongdoing, and face towards the Lord.

Do not indulge in luxurious living.
Too much wine and luxury corrupts the heart.

Avoid gossip and slander.
Be someone who can keep a secret.

The way people dress tells you what work they do.
The way people walk also tells a lot about them.

15 – 19

智慧令我們愉快。 愚昧使我們哀傷。
謙卑是通往智慧之路。

我們可自由選擇善或惡、智慧或愚昧。
人人可努力活好自己的人生。

如果我們做了錯事,我們必須求寬恕。
我們必須拒絕行惡,並要歸向

不要沉溺於奢華的生活,
過量飲酒及享樂會敗壞人心。

戒避閒談及造謠。 
做個能保守秘密的人。

人們的服飾告訴你他們的職業。
人們的步伐亦告知你很多關於他們的事。  

Lord, please help me turn my back on wrongdoing.
Help me face towards you

,請幫助我拒絕惡行幫助我歸向你


Chapters 20 - 23

People who foolishly talk too much become unpopular.
Wise people know when to speak and how much to speak.

The talk of a foolish person is like a load on a journey.
The talk of a wise person is a pleasure to hear.

Lord, do not give me proud eyes.
Do not let lust take control of my life.

Do not let my mouth use coarse and foul language.

Help me avoid sins of impurity, alone or with others.

20 – 23

太多胡言亂語的人招人厭惡。
智者知道何時該說話及說多少話。

愚人之言像旅途上背著的重擔;
樂於聆聽智者之言。

,不要給我高傲眼目。
不要讓情慾操控我的生活。

不要讓我的嘴巴說粗言穢語。

幫助我避免個人或與別人犯不潔之罪。

Lord, please give me the wisdom to avoid bad talk and bad actions

,請給我智慧戒避壞的言行


Chapter 24 

Wisdom speaks:
"From eternity, in the beginning, God created me.
God sent  me to be everywhere on earth.

Approach me, you who desire me.
Whoever listens to me will stay on the road of goodness."

智慧説:
從恆古,起初,
創造了我。
派遣我到地上各處。

誰渴望我的,靠近我。
誰聽從我的,會走在美善的道上。
 

Lord, please help me seek wisdom and listen to wisdom's voice

請幫助我尋找智並聽從智慧的聲音


Chapters 25 - 28

Happy the husband of a really good wife.
A good wife is the joy of her husband.

Do not praise a person before they have spoken.
A person's speech reveals what sort of person is speaking.

Among stupid people look for an opportunity to leave,
but among thoughtful people take your time.

Sarcasm and abuse are the mark of an arrogant person.
Resentment and anger are bad for everyone.

Forgive others if they have offended you.
Then when you pray, your own sins will be forgiven.

Avoid quarrelling and losing your temper.
Do not let your mouth speak scandal.

25 – 28

有賢妻的丈夫是幸福  
賢妻是丈夫的喜

人未發言以前,不要稱讚他。
一個人的言談揭露說話者的身份。

少與愚者共處,
但多與智者為伍。

諷刺和辱罵是傲慢人的標記。
怨恨和忿怒對人無益。

寬恕冒犯你的人。
這樣,你祈求時,你的罪過也會被赦免。

避免爭吵和發 
不要讓你的嘴巴說醜

Chapters 29 - 31

Help others in their time of need.
When people ask you for help, do not turn them away.

Do not let your children grow up wild.
Teach them self control and self-discipline from their earliest years.

Good health is better than silver and gold.
Better to be poor and healthy than rich and sick.

Do not give in to brooding and fretting when things go wrong.
Even in the saddest situation, look for light at the end of the tunnel.

Avoid jealously and anger.
Jealously and anger will shorten your life.

A moderate diet will help you sleep well.
Gluttony produces sleeplessness, biliousness and grumpiness.

Wine was made to cheer our hearts.
But drinking to excess will reduce your strength.

29 – 31

幫助有需要的人。
人們請求你幫助時,不要拒絶他們。

不要讓你的孩子缺乏管教的成長。
從小便教他們自制自

健康的身體勝過金銀。
貧窮和健康勝過富有和生病。

當事情不順時,不要只顧憂慮和煩躁。
縱使在最悲痛的境況,尋找一線曙光。

戒避嫉妒和忿
嫉妒和忿怒會縮短你壽

適量的日常飲食使人安睡。
暴食導致失眠、暴躁及性情乖戾。

酒使人心曠神怡。 
但酗酒卻削減精力。
 

Lord, please help me be moderate with food and drink

請幫助我飲食有節制


Chapters 32 - 34

If you are chosen for an important job,
don't let it go to your head.

When you speak, keep to the point.
Say much in a few words.

Reflect before you act.
Look before you leap.

Travel broadens the mind.
Ask God's protection when you travel.

32 – 34

你若被委以重任,
不要讓它沖昏你的頭腦。

你說話時,要切題。 
言簡意賅。

慎思而後行 
做事要瞻前顧後。

遊歷拓寬知識。 
旅遊時求
保護。  

Lord, please bless everyone who is travelling today

,請保佑今天旅遊的人  


Chapters 35 - 37

Be generous as the Lord has been generous to you.
Be cheerful when you make a gift to the Lord.

The humble person's prayer pierces the clouds,
so love the Lord with a humble heart.

If a property has no fence, it will be plundered.
If a man has no wife, he is like a boat without an anchor.

Be careful when you consult other people.
After all consultation, follow the advice of your own heart.

35 – 37

慷慨待人,如同慷慨待你。
充滿歡樂當獻祭給
時。

謙卑者的祈禱穿雲而
因此以謙虛心愛

沒有圍墻,財產必被搶掠。
沒有妻子的男人,他像一艘沒有錨的船。

向別人討教時要小心。
所有諮詢以後,遵照自己的心意行事。

Lord, please give me a cheerful and humble heart

,請給我一顆愉快和謙卑的心


Chapters 38, 39

All healing is a gift of God.
To obtain healing:  pray to the Lord, ask forgiveness for sin,
then follow the doctor's advice.

Mourn for the dead  and honor their graves,
but do not let your heart be controlled by grief.

Ordinary working people have little time for study.
But the Lord blesses everyone who studies wisdom.

38 – 39

一切康復是的恩賜。 
要得到康復:
,請求赦
然後聽從醫生的指

哀悼和拜祭亡者,
但不過度和不長期哀傷。

一般工人少有時間學習。
祝福所有學習智慧的人。

Lord, please heal my friend (..name..) who is sick

,請治癒我患病的朋(..病者名字..)


Chapters 40, 41

Wine and music cheer the heart,
but better than wine and music is the love of wisdom.

Do not speak sharply to people.
Do not ignore people who greet you.

Do not gaze at another man's wife.
Do not carry on with a single girl.

酒和音樂能悅樂人心,
但愛酒和音樂都不如愛智慧。

說話不可咄咄逼 
不可不理睬跟你問好的

不凝視別人妻 
不與單身女子有曖昧關係

Chapters 42,  43

What an amazing world we live in!
The Creator sure did a good job programming everything!

Great is the Lord who made the sun, the moon and stars.
What a beautiful creature is the rainbow!

The seasons, the rain, the snow, lightning and thunder:
all proclaim the glory of God.

How great is God who has made such an amazing universe.
How can we praise and honor him enough?

42 – 43

我們住在一個多麼美妙的世界!
造物主確實幹得好策劃一切!

偉大的創造太陽、月亮和羣星。
彩虹是多麼美麗的創造物!

四季、雨水、冰雪、雷電:
全都在宣告
的榮耀。

那創造奇妙宇宙的是多麼偉大!
我們要怎樣讚頌和尊崇他才足夠?

Dear God, thank you for creating the world.
Please help us live the way you want us to live

親愛的,感謝你創造這世界。
請幫助我們過你想要我們過的生活


Chapters 44 - 50

It is good to remember the famous people in history
who had a special love for God.

Remembering their faith and their love for God
will give us courage for our daily lives.

They were human and made mistakes,
yet they persevered in serving the Lord.

People like Abraham, Moses, David.
Let us try to imitate their faith and courage.

44 – 50

好好記住歷史上的著名偉人,
他們對
有一份特別的愛。

記住他們對的信靠和愛慕,
會給我們勇氣面對日常生活。

他們是人亦犯錯,
但他們仍堅持事奉

就如AbrahamMosesDavid
讓我們效法他們的信德和勇氣。

Lord, please give me courage to live each day as I should

Chapter 51

When I was young, before I became a traveler,
I prayed for wisdom.

Thanks to wisdom, I have been successful in my work.
And so I finish this book by praising the God who gave me wisdom:

I give thanks to you, Lord and King,
and praise you, God my savior.

For by wisdom you have protected and supported me,
and rescued me from so many troubles.

I will praise you all my days
and gratefully sing your praises.

當我年輕,尚未成為一位旅客前,
我祈求智慧。

有賴智慧令我工作成功。
因此我以讚頌給我智慧的
來結束這書:

我感謝你,君王
和讚美你,
,我的救主!

因你藉著智慧保護和支持我,
並從許多困境中解救我。

我會一生讚美你,
